Mother’s day is fast approaching on Sunday 9th of May. A recent survey showed that the gift most Mums hope for is a break from their usual ‘mama routine’. If your Mum is like the 71% of Mums who do the cooking for the family, then coming home to have a delicious family meal already prepared will be just what she has been wanting.
This Mother’s Day is the perfect time to give back to your mum for everything she does for you – from treating your every bump and scratch, to being your personal chauffeur, to cheering you on when life throws you a curve ball.
We’ve put together our top family recipes that you can enjoy in minutes, so you can surprise her with a night off cooking (and no washing up for you!). If you no longer live at home you can treat your mum to a gift certificate to use when she needs a night off!
Take your mum on an adventure to Mexico. Locally sourced pork is marinated in a mix of herbs and spices to bring out the fabulous flavour of this meat. Slow-cooked to ensure it’s tender and moist, the pork is then pulled. It goes perfectly with our roasted paprika potatoes, and broccoli side dishes.
Next stop, India! One of our most popular meals is now family-sized. Tender, diced chicken breast enhanced with ginger, fenugreek, garum masala and turmeric, and topped with sweet raisins and toasted cashews. This traditional Biriyani is packed full of flavour and has a mild to moderate spice profile suitable for the whole family. Serve with our basmati rice and green beans for a match made in heaven.
If the flavours of the American South is what your mum is after then look no further than our Hickory BBQ Beef. A generous 800 g portion of 18 hr slow-cooked beef chunks infused with smoky hickory, paprika, chilli and cumin, with that signature sweetness of the American South. Our baton carrots and brown rice are the perfect accompaniment.
Changing direction to the Middle-East for those plant-based mamas! Our Moroccan Chickpea Curry is a mild, Middle-Eastern style vegetable curry that combines the great nutty flavour and slightly crunchy texture of chickpeas with a vegetable medley of tomatoes, zucchini and pumpkin. The dish is aromatic, wholesome and tasty. You will want to soak up the lovely sauce with our basmati rice and broccoli.
To keep it close to home with a comforting crowd pleaser, the Cottage Pie is a must. Locally sourced, good Aussie beef is coarsely minced and mixed with chunks of carrot, onion and celery for a well-textured pie. Seasoned sweet potato mash tops it all off. Make sure your mum approves with some greens on the side. Our broccoli and green beans balance this meal out perfectly.
Make sure you place your order before midnight on Tuesday 4th May to receive your order before Sunday. Gift certificates can be purchased online by following this link.
Happy Mother’s Day.
